Special Promotion for Onetime iPhone App

May 13th, 2011

Xcellent Creations, Inc. is thrilled to announce a special promotion for Onetime, an iPhone app developed to share sensitive information with ease and peace of mind.

Here’s how it will work: we’ll send out a Onetime URL via our Twitter feed and Facebook page. The first person to access that URL will receive a promo code for one free download of Onetime from the App store.  It’s a race to get to the URL first! After the Onetime URL has been accessed once, the information will no longer appear.

Be sure to follow us on Twitter and “like” us on Facebook for a chance to receive one of the codes.

We’ll be releasing the codes between May 15th and May 20th. Codes will be valid until May 21st only.

Onetime iPhone app changes the way to share sensitive information

April 21st, 2011

Xcellent Creations, Inc. announces the release of Onetime, an iPhone app designed to share sensitive information with ease and peace of mind.

Think secret agent information sharing when you think of Onetime. Utilizing SSL encryption and in memory data storage, Onetime generates a web link that is good for one viewing only by your chosen recipient.  Users can also specify an expiration time, so that if the web link is not visited, the information is destroyed forever. The recipient only needs to have a web browser to view the Onetime message.

Uses of the site can vary from planning a surprise party to transmitting payment to vendors without using a fee-based service like PayPal. The possibilities are unlimited!

Currently available in the Apple App Store, Onetime retails for $0.99.

Onetime also has companion website: http://onetime.me

iConverse: an app that can improve lives

April 19th, 2011

Recently, the Japan earthquake and tsunami revealed how helpful iPhone apps can be in a time of crisis. People were able to locate emergency services, shelter and reconnect with missing loved ones. Organizations were able to disseminate information to the masses without relying on traditional models of communication. In short, apps may have been responsible for saving many lives during the crisis.

So how can apps make a difference on a daily basis?

One app developed and designed by Xcellent Creations, Inc. aims to improve the everyday interactions for young children with communicative disabilities and toddlers who have yet to develop precise language skills. iConverse is specifically designed to make lives better in that it enables communication that was laborious or not possible before.

An educational, Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) tool, iConverse is available as an app on the iPhone or the iPod Touch. Having such an app available on pocket-sized devices means users can better control the discretion of their interactions. No longer are bulky and cumbersome devices necessary for school-aged children affected with communicative disabilities to express their needs.

By simply touching one of the six icons assigned to basic needs, the app produces a visual and auditory cue to a teacher, parent or caregiver that expresses the user’s need.

iConverse is also customizable. Pictures and text can be changed and assigned as icons to better suit the individual user. If a computerized voice is too impersonal or there is need for another language, voice recordings can be associated with icon buttons.  With that sort of customization,  a child can hear, “I’d like a drink” in their mother’s voice.  What’s more is that iConverse has truly made a lasting positive impact on the lives of the users.

One user, Aldo, wrote:

“Thank you for making such a nice app for my autistic child! Let me introduce myself, I live in the Netherlands with my eight year old son who can not talk, but understand the meaning of [pictures]. For a while i was looking for an app where i could upload [pictures] and images and add voice in my own language. And I finally I found your app.”

Another user, Eric, remarked:

“Excellent work. I’m a psychologist specializing with ASD kids, and have a lot of interest in your software. I purchased it and began using it with students today.”

Yet another user, Dirk, said:

“Thank you so much for your great application.  My 14 year old autistic son has been mute from birth.  His school district is way behind on technology and won’t pay for any new devices.  The one he used was about 8 pounds and about the size of a shoe box.   As parents we could tell he was embarrassed to carry it around.  Even with mainstreaming, people still stare.  You have changed my son’s life.  I will be looking forward to your updates.  I hope you are able to add more phrases to your wonderful and life changing program.”

With a goal of making communication easier for special needs individuals, iConverse excels. The latest version of the iPhone and iPod Touch iConverse app is currently available in the Apple App Store.

Also anticipated in 2011 are web based versions of iConverse along with a web community and an Android iConverse app.

Connexion launches iPhone app developed with Xcellent Creations this Saturday night

March 11th, 2011

Ever wonder which friend is at the same bar as you?  How about when you meet that hottie and need a good opening line to get his contact info?

Connexion.org, the gay and lesbian social networking site, launched an app yesterday for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad that combines: full profiles with multiple photos, Tap That, an exchange of profile pages by bumping phones, Online Now, who’s around you via GPS, Mobile Status Updates including photos, and the ability to search profiles in the app. The iOS app allows you to find out the low down before even striking up a conversation with that stranger.

This Saturday, March 12, at 7pm, Connexion and JR’s Bar and Grill will host a launch party to celebrate the app they created with us over here at Xcellent Creations, Inc.

As an added bonus, just flash the downloaded iPhone app at the bar and receive one free well drink or draft beer.

Find your posse in that crowded bar, Tap That good looking someone and show everyone What’s up? with a status update – all from your iPhone with the Connexion app.

JRs Bar is located at 777 E. 17th Ave in Denver.

And now, a bit about our friends at Connexion.org:
Connexion.org
is a LGBT social networking site with over 175,000 active members worldwide.  Members of Connexion.org enjoy access to a variety of features that help bring the gay community together.  These include: daily news feeds, community message boards, calendars, instant messaging, email, party and social invites, and updates on philanthropic and LGBT community events. While not specifically a dating site, Connexion believes that anything is possible when two people chat. Membership is free.

Donation Engine powers local non-profit fundraising efforts!

February 28th, 2011

Here’s something you may not know, Xcellent Creations has strong ties to the local community through our non-profit involvement.

One of the things we’re most proud of here at XC Inc. is providing software to power many local charity campaigns. Some of the great events we’ve worked with include: Mustache4Cash, Color4Kidz, The Class Act, Golf Fiesta, YOF’s The Bash and The Big Bowl.  Proceeds from these events go to organizations like the Youth Opportunity Foundation (YOF) and Byrne Urban Scholars.

Speaking of which, the Golf Fiesta is coming up in just a couple of months. You can register your foursome now at www.golffiesta.org

A snapshot of Donation Engine in action

Our work with non-profits started in 2006 with Mustache4Cash. XC Inc. donated technology that has come to be known as Donation Engine, to the fundraiser and helped raise half a million dollars for YOF. Now that may not seem like the biggest deal, but when you think about technology as an in-kind donation, it really speaks to how much we wanted to step up to the plate!

We’re currently working on a Donation Engine to better help facilitate non-profit fundraising. Donation Engine gives any charitable organization the ability to power their fundraisers through a sleek, user-friendly, web-based technology.  Donation Engine isn’t just a way to collect donations; it can distribute tickets, and promote and register participants in events.

In the past, organizations relied on non-automated ways to do these things, or if they were technology based, it was costly. We’d like to support philanthropic ventures by giving them smart, usable technology at a cost that any non-profit can afford.

If you’re interested in applying to be a beta tester for Donation Engine, please shoot us an email.

While Donation Engine can support any philanthropic venture, we keep 100% local and grassroots organizations working to build a better Colorado close to our heats. We also love supporting non-profits like YOF that strive to give the totality of their event proceeds to their beneficiaries. It’s that sort of dedication and follow through that inspire us here at XC Inc.

For more information on YOF please visit their website at: www.youthopportunityfoundation.org

Enriching the lives of kiddos through exploration

Fans of the Hannah Rose Knows series can easily enjoy the experience with a free download of the app, which comes with one free book. Just in time, too! Hannah Rose Knows is about to release three new books entitled: No One Has the Right to Be A Bully, All About Diabetes, and All About Autism.

Xcellent Creations Office Incident

July 22nd, 2010

A letter with the contents of this post will be sent to all of our customers, we are posting it here for complete transparency and to spread this information quickly.

Dear Xcellent Creations Customer -

On Thursday, July 22, 2010 the office park in which Xcellent Creations, Inc. does business was broken into. This included 2 buildings to our knowledge and several offices within these buildings. During the incident 1 laptop computer serial number W88105B2YJZ was stolen. A few other items such as an iPod touch, an Android G1, and a camera were also stolen.

Reasonable precautions were taken to stop this from happening. The outside of the building was secured, the interior door was secured, and the laptop was secured by password. Since this was not a targeted attack, the theft of client and company data was not the goal, laptops and other electronic devices were the goal.

We are cooperating with police and the building to work through this incident and appreciate your understanding if work for one of your projects was delayed by this incident. Rest assured our data is backed up regularly locally and offsite.

This reminds us all that good backup and security practices need to be followed, and we will be doing an internal review of our procedures.

If you have any questions you can call Ben Reubenstein directly at 303-947-0446.
