Xcellent Creations Office Incident

July 22nd, 2010

A letter with the contents of this post will be sent to all of our customers, we are posting it here for complete transparency and to spread this information quickly.

Dear Xcellent Creations Customer -

On Thursday, July 22, 2010 the office park in which Xcellent Creations, Inc. does business was broken into. This included 2 buildings to our knowledge and several offices within these buildings. During the incident 1 laptop computer serial number W88105B2YJZ was stolen. A few other items such as an iPod touch, an Android G1, and a camera were also stolen.

Reasonable precautions were taken to stop this from happening. The outside of the building was secured, the interior door was secured, and the laptop was secured by password. Since this was not a targeted attack, the theft of client and company data was not the goal, laptops and other electronic devices were the goal.

We are cooperating with police and the building to work through this incident and appreciate your understanding if work for one of your projects was delayed by this incident. Rest assured our data is backed up regularly locally and offsite.

This reminds us all that good backup and security practices need to be followed, and we will be doing an internal review of our procedures.

If you have any questions you can call Ben Reubenstein directly at 303-947-0446.

iPhoneDevCamp Colorado

August 2nd, 2008

Today was a fantastic day for iPhone with developers from across the world meeting and networking. Here in Colorado at the ID345 co-working space a fantastic group of speakers shared their wisdom on a variety of topics. Brent Simmons discussed NetNewsWire, Bill Dudney talked about Core Animation on OS X, and Patern Making, CO. discussed their fantastic game, RADIUS. We presented our iNetwork Test Native Edition and discussed the previous Web App version. All in all an excellent day!

iNetwork Test Launches New Site

June 10th, 2008

iNetworkTest.com has been refactored. The web application for iPhone has been moved to http://www.inetworktest.com/iphone_content. The main site now utilizes IP geo lookup to plot results on Google Maps.

Users can also create their own accounts and store their results to be plotted on a custom map. This improved platform was designed to allow for new Mobile Network Testing applications on the iPhone and Android platform. These new applications will be more accurate and work at the lowest possible level of the software stack as allowed by the various SDKs.

iPhone SDK Native Application Development

March 7th, 2008

Apple, Inc. announced and has made available a Software Development Kit for the iPhone. The excitement in the Mac/Mobile development community was best summarized by long time developer and friend Buzz Andersen:

“I don’t think we’ve seen such entrepreneurial enthusiasm for ‘native’ apps since, what, the 80s?”

Xcellent Creations, Inc. has the SDK in hand and will be porting its popular iPhone Web Application, iNetworkTest, to run natively on the iPhone. We have many ideas on how to improve our web application to deliver more accurate Network Test results and an improved interface. Stay tuned for screenshots from our beta.
